Hannah & Preston // 35mm Film Session
Hannah & Preston
After so much success with Jo & Matt’s Anniversary Session on film, I was dying to get out & do another film shoot with a few different stocks to see the differences & narrow in my preferences! A lot of my film shooting over the past few years has also aided me in further developing my own set of Custom Presets for digital photos on Lightroom. Included in that pack is an editing overlay I also use on my film scans that I process through Lightroom & they are available HERE!
Back to Hannah & Preston though, I’ve been aware of who these two are for a little while through social media & local social circles, & if you know them you know they are 100% lake people! I loved the idea of capturing them in a setting that is so ingrained into their lives, & the lake itself gave me a lot of summer vacation/classic Americana inspiration to feed off of. We planned for a summer evening out around some of the countless coves around Beaver Lake in Arkansas. Some time in/around/driving the boat & some going for a swim. After I spent the two rolls of film on both cameras we spent a good hour attempting to teach me how to wakesurf. Emphasis on attempting! That gives us a perfect excuse to hang out again when the weather is back in lake-mode.
I shot across two film cameras & two film stocks for this session. My go-to Kodak Portra 400 in my Nikon F100 (varying lenses, mostly 24-70 f2.8) & Kodak Gold 200 in my trusty Canon AE-1 (50mm f1.8). Kodak Gold was what I was most looking forward to because I knew the warm finish & sharpness would balance well with the colors & tones of the lake! Both rolls were a huge success & further boost to my confidence to offer fully film or additional film sessions in the future. If you’d like to book your own, let’s make it happen!
