TBP - Connection
My most-used preset especially throughout the summer months! It has a more heavy-handed look than the others in terms of contrast & punch, but skin-tones are clean, natural colors pop, & there’s a richness to this preset I’ve worked for years to achieve. For extra fun & to develop a style all your own, try pairing this preset with some of the split toning tools & grain that come with the package.
TBP - Experience
This preset I lean more into for autumn through spring. The shadows are a bit softer & colors even more realistic than “Connection.” Indoor or low-light situations are well suited for this preset while keeping skin-tones bright & clean, especially in tandem with some of the toning tools like “Brighten” or “Soften” included in this pack.
TBP - Truth
“Truth” is a preset born out of my desire to match my edited 35mm film scans. I always edit my real film with a bit of punch & color toning, so this preset is the softest & truest of the bunch, with still a bit of edge in the contrast. Works great to preserve the real-life moments & even better with a medium to heavy grain added!
TBP - Xperience B/W
A quintessential black & white film-style preset that looks great on everything from portraits, to landscapes & sparkler exits. I’m SO proud of this preset! It has all the qualities of black & white film that I love while focusing the mix on brighter skin tones & high contrast. 90% of the time I’m adding a heavy grain to this preset & loving it!
Also included in the Custom Preset Pack:
TBP - Grain Tools
Light: Every preset comes with a light amount of grain that is just noticeable enough to “feel” on the digital image rather than distract.
Medium: Added texture like a professional 35mm film stock, say Kodak Portra 400 if you’re going for that film look.
Heavy: Best on black & whites in my opinion, but especially fun on panoramas or photos without too many distractions so the texture can shine.
None: A shortcut to zero out that grain for a clean look that only digital photography can offer!
TBP - Toning Tools
Soften: This is a shortcut to use on my color presets that will soften the shadows, highlights, & contrast to help with harsh lighting situations or simply a softer look.
Brighten: This shortcut tool will boost whites, highlights, & shadows on my color presets to overall bring the exposure of the photo up around the midtones. This tool works great with bright backlighting or indoors.
Warm Split: This is a stylistic tool to add a warm split tone to the highlights, anchored by a barely-noticeable green in the shadows that gives a feeling of underexposed color film.
Cool Split: Another stylistic tool that I have a lot of fun with to cool the highlights while simultaneously warming the shadows. This keeps the toning fairly even while giving the image a totally unique look.
TBP Xtra - Real Film Scans
This is a base preset that I apply to all of my 35mm film scans! I mostly shoot Kodak Portra 400, so other film stocks or scans, depending on how you shoot, may require more or less tweaking. I love the look of film right from the negative, but I use this preset to steer my film a bit closer to my digital work. If you don’t shoot real film (yet), just hold on to this. You’ll thank me some day after your first roll of film gets developed!
