Whitaker Creek // Photo Adventure

We had SO much rain through the end of February & beginning of March that the waterfalls were really flowing all over the Ozarks. Hanna didn't get to go out on my last hike, so I planned a day for us to bushwhack a few miles through the Upper Buffalo Wilderness along Whitaker Creek to find a few of my favorite waterfalls. It was a glaringly sunny day, which is typically the LAST kind of day you want to photograph waterfalls, but it was too beautiful of a morning not to try.

Once we pulled up at the wilderness boundary to park we saw a guy prepping gear in a vehicle in front of us & soon realized it was Kevin, a Facebook friend & fellow hiker I hadn't met in person until then! We all three hiked together several hours & miles through the morning & saw some amazing things including Amber Falls, Compton's Double Falls, & Owl Falls. I think the biggest plus side to all the sunshine was the occasional rainbow we saw appearing near the bottom of the waterfalls!
